At 5 p.m. this Friday, October 16, René Moffatt plays a free set on the patio at The Groove on Lyric Street. A few miles west, Always…Patsy Cline is in its second weekend at the Lone Tree Arts Center, with a run that ends October 25. Both are in Lone Tree, but they sit on opposite sides of I-25. Increasingly, the town's late fall works that way. The ticketed nights and the new restaurant openings near Park Meadows are still on the west side. The free, walk-up, every-week events have moved east.
The East Side Got a Gathering Place in June
The City of Lone Tree places the Lone Tree Arts Center in RidgeGate West and Schweiger Ranch in RidgeGate East, with I-25 as the line between them. For most of the town's history, the east half had homes and open land but no shared place to spend an evening. That changed in June, when the Lyric Amenity Center opened at 10930 Lyric Street with The Groove Café inside.
The detail that matters for anyone outside Lyric is that the café is open to the public. The pool, fitness building and resident gathering spaces are reserved for Lyric homeowners. The café, restaurant and bar are not. DougCo Social's opening coverage describes a full liquor license with Lone Tree Brewery on tap. The menu is music-themed, from a "sunrise setlist" at breakfast to scratch pizza, and a 60-foot mural by Magik Studios runs from the patio into the dining room. The mailing address carries a Parker 80134 ZIP code, but the building sits in Lone Tree.
The neighborhood around it is still being built. The City says Lyric at RidgeGate is planned for about 1,900 homes across 700 acres, and that more than 100 were finished when the café opened. That puts the gathering place years ahead of most of the households it was built for. In the meantime, the people filling the patio are coming from all over Lone Tree.
Hours run 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, until 8 p.m. Thursday, and until 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. According to DougCo Social, Friday Night Live, the free 5 to 8 p.m. music series, has drawn crowds of well over a hundred.
October Already Leaned East
The City's own fall events made the same move this year. Oktoberfest on October 3 and the free Fall Festival on October 4 were both held at Schweiger Ranch, east of the interstate. Both are now behind us. The rest of October splits like this:
- Fri., Oct. 16, 5 p.m. Friday Night Live with René Moffatt, The Groove. East.
- Thu., Oct. 22, 6 p.m. Trivia Night, The Groove. East.
- Fri., Oct. 23, 5 p.m. Friday Night Live with Antonio Lopez, The Groove. East.
- Sat., Oct. 24, 1 to 4 p.m. "Fall Comes Alive" Lyric Fall Fest, The Groove. East.
- Through Sun., Oct. 25. Always…Patsy Cline, Lone Tree Arts Center. West.
- Tue., Oct. 27, 7:30 a.m. Connect with Council at The Groove Café. East.
- Fri., Oct. 30, 5 p.m. Friday Night Live with Patrick Dethlefs, The Groove. East.
- Sat., Oct. 31. Frankenstein with Michael Shapiro and live accompaniment by the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra, Lone Tree Arts Center. West.
The Groove lists its Fall Fest as "Free to Attend!" with live music, games, fall crafts, food trucks, bounce houses and a pumpkin patch. The free Eventbrite reservation page adds a photo booth, a live DJ, a discovery station and model-home tours. Even the City Council meet-and-greet has come out to this patio.
The West Side Keeps the Ticketed Nights and the Reservations
The Lone Tree Arts Center at 10075 Commons Street, near I-25 and Lincoln Avenue, is still where the season's ticketed shows happen. Its 2026–27 main stage season moves straight from Frankenstein into a run of holiday dates:
- Sun., Nov. 29: Suzy Bogguss holiday show
- Wed., Dec. 2: Kalani Pe'a's Hawaiian Christmas
- Tue., Dec. 8: Phamaly with the Colorado Symphony
- Thu., Dec. 10: The Swingles
- Wed., Dec. 16 through Sun., Dec. 20: Motones and Jerseys: Holiday Hi-Fi
The sit-down dinners before and after those shows are also concentrating near Park Meadows. The Capital Grille opened March 15 at 9067 Westview Road, in the former Red Lobster space, as DougCo Social reported. Next comes Thirsty Lion Gastropub at 8335 Park Meadows Center Drive, in the space Earls Kitchen + Bar used to occupy. In early October the restaurant's Instagram said it would open "this December," and when DougCo Social drove by on October 7, the construction fence still read "Opening Late 2026!" No exact date or hours have been posted. It will be the chain's second Colorado restaurant, after Denver's Union Station. Its menu runs from Ahi Poke Stack to I.P.A. Beer Battered Fish & Chips, with weekend brunch and a daily 3 to 6 p.m. happy hour.
The First Weekend of December Crosses the Interstate Twice
The split is easiest to see on December 4 and 5, when the town's two biggest free holiday events land on back-to-back days on opposite sides of I-25.
Friday, December 4, west side. The City's Merry Days Holiday Tree Lighting runs 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lone Tree Arts Center. The tree is lit at 6:30, and library story times follow at 7, 7:15 and 7:30. The City's event listing also promises a hot cocoa and s'more bar, holiday songs from The Denver Dolls and roaming holiday characters.
Saturday, December 5, east side. Schweiger Ranch at 10822 S. Havana Street holds its 10th annual Austrian Christmas from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event marks the Christmas traditions of the Austrian family who settled the ranch in 1874. Expect Santa with real reindeer, horse-drawn carriage rides, face painting, Austrian food and music, and a Christkindl Markt for handmade gifts. Admission is free, no registration is needed, and dogs are not allowed. Lyric at RidgeGate is listed among the 2026 sponsors.
One date conflict to know about. The City's Merry Days page still lists Austrian Christmas as Saturday, December 6, which reads as a holdover from last year's calendar. Schweiger Ranch's own 2026 listing says December 5. The same weekend, Douglas County Libraries' Storybook Holiday, "The North Pole Express," holds a dinner edition Saturday, December 5, from 5 to 8:30 p.m., then brunch and lunch editions Sunday, December 6.
You don't need that weekend to see Schweiger Ranch lit up. Its Holiday Display of Lights runs November 26, 2026, through January 24, 2027. It's a drive-by display, viewed from the parking lot or along Havana Street while the grounds behind the gates stay closed. Paired with a Friday Night Live set at The Groove, it makes a full winter evening without crossing the interstate.
What the East Side Is Still Waiting On
The free events east of I-25 are running ahead of the buildings meant to hold them. Three projects show how much is still coming:
| Project | Location | Status as of October 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| High Note Park, Phase One | Near I-25 and RidgeGate Parkway | Broke ground April 29, 2026. Opening expected in 2027. |
| Lone Tree Village | RidgeGate Parkway, between the eastbound and westbound lanes | King Soopers Marketplace under construction. City expects a 2027 opening. |
| Truck Yard | 9070 Maximus Drive | City Council approved a purchase and sale agreement. The sale was not final, and a site improvement plan still needed Council approval. |
High Note Park is a joint project of the City and South Suburban Park and Recreation. Phase One plans include fields, a playground, connections to the Happy Canyon Trail, a dog park, a food-truck area and a 200-seat beer garden expected to be run by Lone Tree Brewing Company. The approved plan for Lone Tree Village adds six smaller retail buildings and a gas station around the King Soopers, though no other tenants have been named. Truck Yard, the indoor and outdoor restaurant and entertainment concept from restaurateur Jason Boso, dates to a September 2025 announcement. The City Council approved a purchase and sale agreement for the former Treo site in the Lone Tree Entertainment District. The City said the sale would not be final until Truck Yard finished its inspections and won Council approval of a site improvement plan, a step that includes a chance for public input. No opening date has been announced.
New gathering places like The Groove and High Note Park change how a neighborhood lives, and over time they show up in how buyers value the homes around them.
